What an eventful journey it was from Pensacola, FL to Jacksonville, FL!
Our first stop in Chipley, FL brought us face to face with the challenges of charging infrastructure. Out of the four Electrify America chargers, only one was operational. As the fourth car in line, we patiently waited for the repairs to be completed. However, even after the chargers were fixed, the feedback from fellow EV drivers was that they were disappointingly slow. Assessing our remaining range, we made the decision to continue our journey to Tallahassee, FL.
Little did we know that another issue awaited us—unpredictable weather. As we arrived in Tallahassee, a thunderstorm struck, accompanied by heavy rainfall and lightning. The lack of charging station covers became a significant inconvenience, as we had to repeatedly exit the car to replug the charger, resetting it after power disruptions caused by lightning strikes. It was a challenging situation.
Finally, we completed our charging session and embarked on the final leg of our journey. Unfortunately, our last stop was no exception to the inclement weather. With pouring rain and no covers available, we had to endure the elements while ensuring our vehicle received the charge it needed.
After a long and eventful day, we successfully arrived in Jacksonville, FL.
